Hi, I’m alane.

This is my mother’s wedding dress from 1955, carefully preserved all those years. Before she passed, I had the chance to wear it and let her see me in it. A reminder that we are built by the women who came before us.

Built by Curves grew out of my own lived experience navigating complexity with intention. I have built a career, a family, and a sense of direction through seasons that required resilience, adaptation, and care. An aggressive breast cancer diagnosis sharpened my understanding of what truly matters. It demanded clarity, strength, and the ability to move forward without wasting energy, time, or attention.

Alongside my own journey, I have navigated my children’s, Maxwell Vincenzo and Adriana Maeve, evolving paths while leading professionally as a working mother and partner. These experiences shaped how I approach building lives and careers. Not as linear progress, but as thoughtful design informed by reality. I believe experience is not something to overcome but something to work with. Nothing is wasted. What comes next can be built with intention, care, and honesty.

I bring over three decades of career design and experiential learning work, a graduate degree in counseling, and a life shaped across cultures and continents. From Peace Corps service in Africa to years living and working across the U.S. and more than 65 countries, my work is grounded in cultural attunement, perspective, and lived understanding of how people build meaningful lives in complex realities.

My children and I are all dual citizens of Italy, and our Irish-Scottish family roots have deeply shaped how I navigate culture, identity, and resilience. These threads of heritage and family (can also be seen in The Redhead Project interview) inform the intentional, values-driven approach I bring to helping others build lives and careers — honoring both the legacies we inherit and the paths we choose to create.

My Approach

My approach is rooted in lived experience, thoughtful reflection, and intentional design. I work with people where they are, honoring the realities of work, family, health, and change. Rather than offering templates or prescriptions, I help surface what already exists and shape what comes next with clarity and care.

This work values resilience without glorifying struggle, progress without urgency, and decisions that fit real lives. Nothing is wasted. Every experience carries insight that can inform a more aligned and sustainable path forward.

Simple ideas

I focus on what matters most. By stripping away noise and unnecessary complexity, simple ideas create clarity, direction, and space to move forward with intention.

Lasting impact

Lasting impact comes from choices that fit real lives. When decisions are grounded in experience and care, they hold over time and support growth that is sustainable, not performative.
